Roof Raise
The Process
- Cut the existing hat channels at alternating heights
- Use ratchet straps for support & stability
- Take turns raising each farm-jack a little at a time
- Make sure all 4 corners of the roof are level
- Weld the hat channel extensions in place
- Add new sheet metal
Why did you do it?
We chose to raise our roof for not only
the extra head space but also to have
more storage space.
How high did you raise it?
With a 20 inch roof raise, we went from a ceiling height of just under 6 ft to just over 7.5ft. It made a huge difference!
How difficult was it?
The roof raise process was actually much easier than we expected! Thanks to the help of family & friends, it was done in 1 day.
What equipment did you use?
We used 4 farm-jacks to hold the roof of
the bus up while the new hat channels
were welded in place.
