What kind of bus do you have?List Item 1
Our bus is a 1997 Thomas International 71 passenger with a DT466E engine and Allison 2000 transmission.
-
How long did the conversion take & how much did it cost?List Item 2
All in all the conversion process took about 2.5 years but 80% of the work was done in the 2020. As for costs, we managed to spend just under $20k including cost of the bus and the upgraded transmission.
(Which we know is hard to believe but we had more than enough time to find deals on everything we needed plus we didn't have to pay for labor since we did 95% of the work ourselves)

Where will you park the bus?List Item 3
Our plan is to be stationary for 3 months at a time for work with 2-3 weeks of travel in between positions. The hope is to be off grid the majority of the time, so we'll be parking mostly in national forests and on BLM land depending on what's available wherever we go. Our favorite apps to use for finding spots are Harvet Hosts & iOverlander.

Do the dogs love bus life?List Item 4
Blue & Milo are still a little unsure about riding in the bus and prefer to ride in the jeep. Other than that, they love bus life and are enjoying all of the adventures it has to offer. They are happiest when they are with us which is why we chose bus life in the first place; so we would never have to leave them at home, instead, our home comes with us!

What do you do for work?
Ethan is a traveling Physical Therapist. If you would like more information on how to get traveling contracts, please send us a message! Kim works online as a social media manager but her full time job is being a stay at home dog mom.

How did you insure the bus?
We added the bus as an RV to our existing car insurance plan with Erie Insurance. It was much easier than we thought it would be; all we had to do was send pictures in and set our price!
